Our annual Fall Book Fair is just around the corner! September 9th-13th.

 

We are looking for volunteers to help run this great event. Are you looking for a way to get involved and make friends? Then look no further. There are morning, afternoon, and evening shifts available, as well as set up and break down times.

Week of August 26-August 30

This week we will be learning about things around us at home and our families.
Language Arts Connection: Nouns
Writing: Adding nouns to sentences and being able to pick nouns out of a sentence.
Reading: We will be reading the story "Sam" and discuss characters and setting in a story.
Math: Addition-defining the terms plus, equals, addition sentence, sum, difference.

1st Week

Hello everyone,
Can you believe we are already in our second week of school? We had an amazing first week getting to know our classmates, classroom rules, walking around the campus and learning where everything is. This week we are working on building routines and getting to know our schedule. We also started spelling words this week your child went home with a piece of paper folded in half with spelling words on it. One half is them trying to spell the words before we start working with them all week the other half is our words spelled correctly. They have 10 regular spelling words this week and 3 challenge words. The challenge words are extra credit but I would like everyone to try them.  As soon as we get our agendas students will also write their spelling words in there so they can practice. Spelling tests will be first thing on Friday morning. Reading sheets and homework also went home yesterday. Please practice your child's reading sheet with them every night and don't forget about their reading logs. :-)

Welcome to First Grade

My name is Angelique Morett and this is my second year teaching 1^st grade. I am very excited to be a part of the North Valley Academy First Grade team. Most importantly, I am THRILLED to be your first grade teacher! It’s going to be a fun year full of lots of learning and new adventures, I can’t wait to see what the year has in store for us.  I know we are going to have a fun and exciting year full of new learning experiences.
